Welding Students Attend FABTECH Expo

Welding students recently attended the FABTECH Expo in Atlanta.

The industry trade show and conference is the longest running North American event dedicated to showcasing a full spectrum of sheet metal forming and fabricating, finishing, tube and pipe, stamping and welding equipment. It is cosponsored by the American Welding Society (AWS), the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) and the Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI). Industry partners for this event are the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT).

Those attending were John Nester of Taylorsville, Patricia Beam of Hickory, Timothy Linder of Hickory, William Isenhour of Hickory, Mark Huffman of Hickory, Shawn Marsh of Statesville, Matthew Thorneburg of Hickory, Cameron Eggers of Hickory, Dylan Pike of Vale, Roby Ingram of Newton, Joshua Roberts of Newton, and Ruben Travis of Conover.

Students toured the Lincoln Electric Training Facility in Atlanta. They had the opportunity to learn about and use the latest computer-based welders. They attended educational sessions, including how to integrate “green” welding processes that use half the electricity of traditional processes.

The students also toured the Mechanical Trades Institute of Welding Technology Center in Atlanta. They learned how credentials earned through CVCC’s welding program can be applied to a pipefitter’s certification.
