Cook & Lambert Named Students of the Semester

Amber Cook of Bethlehem and Tiffany Lambert of Taylorsville have been named Students of the Semester for fall 2010.

Up to eight students are nominated for this award during each academic year. Students are recognized for their academic achievements, school leadership and community service. They receive gift certificates to be used in the school cafeteria and bookstore.

Cook is enrolled in the Cyber Crime Technology program and is a member of CVCC’s Student CyberWatch, an organization devoted to furthering the protection of personal information and securing computer networks. She was one of the first four community college students in the United States to be selected for an internship at George Washington University’s prestigious Cyber Security Policy & Research Institute (CSPRI) this past summer.  She is also enrolled at Lees-McRae College completing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is doing an internship with the Hickory Police Department.

Cook is the daughter of Brock and Trina Coffey of Bethlehem. She and her husband, Brandon, live in Bethlehem.

Lambert is enrolled in college transfer studies and was elected president of the Student Government Association for the 2010-11 academic year. She is part of the Homegrown Teaching Scholars Program and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.

She plans to transfer to Appalachian State University to earn a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and become a high school history teacher.

She is the daughter of Thomas and Joyce Lambert of Taylorsville.
