I-9 Immigration Audits; Small Business Compliance

Catawba Valley Community College’s Small Business Center will offer a seminar on “I-9 Immigration Audits: Small Business Compliance in the ICE Age,” on Wed., Feb. 24, 6 to 8 p.m.

Business owners are facing increasing scrutiny of their compliance with immigration regulations.  In July, 2009, "ICE," the enforcement branch of the Department of Homeland Security, launched an audit initiative by serving 652 businesses nationwide with Notices of Inspection (NOIs).

In this presentation, attorney Carol Armstrong will instruct businesses in how to comply with Form I-9 requirements so that they will be better prepared in the event of an inspection.

The seminar is funded by taxpayer dollars and provided at no charge through state grant funds to CVCC.

To register by the noon Feb. 23 deadline, call CVCC’s Small Business Center at 828-327-7000, ext. 4117.
