Beginning Tues., Jan. 12, the Small Business Center will offer “Step Up, Startup,” a series of six seminars running consecutive Tuesday evenings through February 9.
The first seminar in the series, “The Right Stuff,” will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on January 12 in the JobLink Center on CVCC’s East Campus.
Participants will weigh the pros and cons of starting a business, including their skill set, experience, personality, life goals, current and future financial needs and tolerance for risk.
“Customers and Market Reach” will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tues., Jan. 19, on CVCC’s East Campus JobLink Center.

“Keeping $Score” for aspiring entrepreneurs will be held Tues., Feb. 2, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., on CVCC’s East Campus.
This session introduces participants to several standard scorecards for tracking business performance and health. It will highlight the importance of budgets and accurate forecasting. It will also clarify key financial concepts: what is meant by positive cash flow, break-even, profit and loss.
“Getting It Up and Running” for aspiring entrepreneurs will be held Tues., February 9, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., on CVCC’s East Campus.
This session deals with the nuts and bolts of running a business: the people, policies and procedures that have to be in place to make it happen. Other important topics covered include what it takes to be official, legal and savvy: the business entity, compliance with local, state and federal regulations, help from outside experts and risk management.
All seminars in the "Step Up, Startup" series are funded by taxpayer dollars and provided at no charge through state grant funds to CVCC.
